Students will be able to separate glass, plastics, cans and white paper. Students will understand that recycling helps keep the environment clean by reusing things instead of throwing them in the garbage.
Materials: Get four wastebaskets, labeling them: glass, plastic, cans, and paper. Teach the Recycle Song:
“We RECYCLE what we use,
Separate things and you should too!
Glass, and paper, plastic, tin,
Go in your RECYCLING BIN!
We must start now, we can’t wait,
Quick or it will be too late!”
Show children examples of what goes in which bin and explain the importance of recycling into separate cans At the end of the lesson I would have student break off into small groups and each group will have a pile of recycled goods and they will be able to sing and recycle.
